Change In Template/Design Can Effect PageRank

Recently, I happened to see a discussion, where people talked about the Drop inPageRank after changing their Design or Template. Unfortunately I didn't bookmark the page and I could not track the page now. However, here is what I think about the issue mentioned above.

There are people who believe PageRank has nothing to do with the change in template/design, as far as I'm concerned they are partially right, I mean change in template can show some effect on the PR of the web page. Search Engine bots can easily detect the change in the template and the out bound links from your page, and I seriously believe Rankings may drop because of this issue.

You can always protect your PageRank by following these steps.

1:Always don't change the complete layout of the page, I mean try to have a layout that looks similar to the older version of the template.

2:Make sure the Meta tags and Meta Description of the page remains the same.

3:Try change the layout of your blog or website in a day by day process rather than implementing all the changes at a time. Changing the total layout in a single day can sometimes give you a back punch to your rankings.

4:Don't neglect the out going links in your old template. Its always good to have the same links in your new template. However, you can make the necessary changes few days after the template is changed.

Hope these tips helped you. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.
